Personal bias alert

I thought I should take this opportunity to declare why I have posted some much lately on the same-sex marriage issue and especially as it relates to polygamy. Simply put, I find it fascinating. I, for one, believe that marriage is between a man and a women, but I also believe that if two people of the same sex want to form a recognized union, well more power to them. This is why I support civil unions.

With that declaration out of the way the reason I am so fascinated is the logic of the whole issue. I love logic. I love examining an issue from initial assumptions and taking it to it's logical conclusion. With this issue I do not see how changing the definition of marriage can stop at just same-sex marriage. Furthermore the conflict between personal rights and religious rights is monumental and I really want to see how it plays out. Finally, the politics of this is extremely interesting. The BQ and NDP are really the only parties with a clear position on this as they are both firmly for SSM. The Liberal and Conservative stated positions are practically identical but the Liberals want to push their "hidden agenda" through the courts and the Conservatives are trying to find a middle position. Either or both parties could get burned on this issue. But with the media and academia behind the Liberals it is more likely to be the Conservatives. We'll see.

So if you've had enough of me writing about this come back in a week. The way my mind works I should be on something else by then. But for now, I have one more post in me on this. I have to follow my muse.
