Long overdue

From the better late than never file comes my link to Hacks and Wonks. There is some really excellent stuff over there so if you haven't already, check it out.

This post blew my mind. If the math is correct almost 25% of pregnancies in Canada end with an abortion.

...In 2002, there was approximately 320,000 births.

So that must mean that there are roughly 420,000 pregnancies in Canada each year.

And almost 25% of those end up with an abortion.

Even though I am completely pro-life, I pointed out a policy earlier that the Conservatives could take on abortion and still come out ahead. Politically abortion is a dead issue and making abortion illegal is not going to happen. But can anyone argue that 100,000 abortions a year is not crazy? First of all, 5 minutes of research on partial birth abortion will lead anyone to the conclusion that it is absolutely Barbaric. As long as there is a clause in a law protectin the health (physical) of the mother why can't we have a law to stop this? Furthermore let's promote adoption as an option instead of abortion. Also some absitenance education couldn't hurt. At this point I will take any victory I can get and dramatically reducing the 100,000/year figure would qualify as a victory in mind.
