Mike Duffy, on CTV's Question Period, was touting a deal between the Federal Liberals and Conservatives regarding some tax relief in the upcoming budget. Wouldn't that be nice. MP Peter MacKay was the Conservative's representative on Question Period and he denies any such deal. Deputy PM Anne McLellan refused to comment on rumours.
Conservative Deputy Leader Peter MacKay denied claims that his party and the Liberals have worked out a tax-cut deal to ensure the budget goes through.
The coming budget is critical to the Liberal minority government, which could fall if the document is not approved by opposition parties.
MP Layton complained that the Liberals have not been consulting with the NDP on the budget,
to which Mike Duffy thought added credence that the Liberals and Conservatives have a deal and there is not need to bring the NDP along. If anyone would now if would be the Conservative Finance Critic Monte Solberg. Here is what he is saying about on his blog.
Contrary to media reports the Conservatives have not struck a deal with the Libs to get a small personal income tax cut in the budget. Why would we have to? After all we pushed them into making a commitment to tax relief for low and middle income people when they reluctantly accepted our Throne Speech amendments. Surely they can be counted on to keep their word.
...Bottom line: if you do get a tax cut, you can thank the persistance of Stephen Harper and the 250,000 members of the Conservative Party of Canada. For the fact that it will be small and begrudging you can blame the Liberals.

We'll see.
