If it wasn't for bad luck...

My wife and I are anti-MiniVan/SUV people and we have tried as hard as we can to get by with a small and a mid-size sedan for as long as possible. Unfortunately car seats these days have created bubble-babies and with two in the back seat there is absolutely no room for a third person.

Due to this we are seriously considering upgrading to a larger vehicle. Then I read this (courtesy of NealeNews)

Tucked discreetly into this week's federal budget is a proposal that Ottawa impose a fee on purchases of new SUVs and other large vehicles while offering rebates to people who buy smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.

...Rob Fridfinnson, owner of Mid-Town Ford in Winnipeg, said the proposed fee targets the wrong people.
"It's penalizing the family; families here that drive minivans, go to hockey games, practices; people that hook on a little camper in the summertime and go for a family trip," he said.

But when has the government ever cared about the family?
