So the youth wing of the Liberal Party has some in a huff over their "It's the charter, stupid" buttons in support of SSM.
To those offended by this I say, grow up...stop being such a wimp. On a scale of 1 - 10 of insults you will be called in opposing SSM this is about a 3. You have to be tougher than that.
...But groups opposed to same-sex marriage say that this time, the "stupid" epithet is aimed at dissenters -- not only lobby groups but Liberal MPs and party members.
"They have resorted to name-calling," said Charles McVety, the head of Defend Marriage Canada, a group opposed to same-sex marriage.
"They are calling people who don't agree with them stupid."
The campaign has annoyed some opponents of same-sex marriage within the party, and even some members who favour the bill to extend civil marriage to same-sex couples.
"That type of comment is meant to insult the other side and more or less intimidate them in terms of not speaking their mind, and I think that's totally wrong," said Bill Leonhardt, Liberal riding president in Pickering-Scarborough East.
"I admire young people and I admire their spirit, their input . . . but I think it's ill-advised."
And to those Liberals who are not enjoying the sharp left turn proposed by said youth wing there is a party out there who prefers civil unions, does not want legalized prostitution or legalized marijuana.
