Off to smashing start

This weekend is not shaping up well for the Conservatives as the very first piece of news to come out the Convention is Deputy Leader Peter MacKay all in a huff about a workshop resolution that was passed today. (Hat-tip LetItBleed)

...The Conservative party was born last year after an agreement to give equal weight at conventions to all ridings across the country — no matter how many members the riding has.

...But members at a policy workshop voted to overturn that idea today and give extra weight to ridings with more members. That prompted MacKay to blitz the hall in a furious attempt to defeat the motion when it comes up for a general vote on Saturday.

I could actually go either way on this issue. It makes sense that the party should follow where the support is but on the other hand how does the party grow without input from ridings that need growth.

Regardless this is the exact type of disagreement that the media lives to pounce on. I guess the next hurdle is to see how delegates vote on this.

Update: The Monger provides a link to MP MacKay on CTV. And you have to read his post. WOW!
