It is official...this government has already fallen. Question Period has become a joke as the Opposition Parties continue to pound on Adscam and the Liberal government plays bait and switch. All the Members of Parliament know that the parachute will be pulled before any legislation gets anywhere.
Here are some quotes from a CBC report.
...Blaikie says while not even he's been able to refrain from asking questions about corruption in the House, other important work, like analysing the government's Kyoto plan, isn't happening.
"If you can't breathe the air, and if the global climate deteriorates ... who's going to care 10 years from now about the Gomery Inquiry?"
Parliament hasn't stopped working, but Conservative Jason Kenney says he isn't sure very much is getting done.
"I don't know what the business is, apart from the marriage bill. There's no major government legislative program. In terms of policy initiatives there's nothing. The bureaucracy is in total gridlock and things like the foreign policy paper are a year overdue. There's not much business of government going on here," said Kenney.
We are getting very close to the point of no return and an election may be the only way out.
