I just heard Liberal Ontario Whip Karen Redman repeat the talking points from House Leader Tony Valeri on 570 News.
The Conservatives got caught in a sneaky move to change the standing orders of Parliament. MP Redman said could you imagine the howls from the Opposition if we had a majority and we tried to change the standing orders.
To which I respond, what!? This makes no sense. If the Liberals had a majority they would have set the standing rules at the beginning of Parliament and nothing the Opposition would do could change that. Their Opposition Days are irrelevant in holding the Government accountable, they have no say in the agenda, in a sense they are going along for the ride until the Government drops the writ at the time when it has to most gain for them. How is this talking point even relevant?
MP Redman also mentions the general themes of the speech tonight. Rest assured, it will be partisan.
Conservative MP Monte Solberg has leaked the speech.
...It'll be just Paul telling Canadians that the Liberal Party is being threatened with defeat and it's just downright un-Canadian to not support the Libs even when they make out like bandits. Course he won't say it that way. He'll say that the Conservatives are evil and if they are elected the poor will be rounded up and eaten. And he'll say how mad he is about Sponsorship. Mad as hell actually, and come hell or highwater he'll leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of this. As a matter of fact, I bet this is his number one priority about which he is very, very, concerned.
Kidding! But Mike Brock has a pretty good approximation.
