Digging in

The Conservatives are standing firm on their position to bring down the government. The question now shifts to when and to if they can even pull a vote off. The Liberals look to be delaying things until at least until they regain the vacant seat in Newfoundland and Labrador. Such a delay would take us until late May and a July election if the non-confidence motion passes. If the Liberals fillibuster their own budget until then the NDP may change their position but I would not count on this. I presume the NDP is locked in with the Liberals until at the least autumn.

As for the MP Harper presser - he needs to calm down. He comes off angry in these scrums and it does not help his cause. You can see here for yourself.

Update: Here is how the Bloomberg newswire reported to the announcement

...The Canadian dollar fell 3.8 percent in April, the world's worst performing currency, after the Liberals said they would boost spending in a bid to cling to power, and amid concern the Conservatives will force a national vote within weeks that may lead to another minority government.
