That is all that could be left of this Parliament. CTV reports that the Liberals will reintroduce the Budget Bill on Friday leading to a vote on May 18th.
As the Conservatives try to topple the government over a scandal that's cost taxpayers millions, the Liberals are making sure their defeat comes over a budget that will boost spending by billions.
The Liberals will put the federal budget back square on the Commons agenda -- making it the centrepiece of their election campaign should the opposition choose to vote it down, sources told Craig Oliver, chief parliamentary correspondent for CTV.
The strategy would save the Liberals from being defeated by a non-confidence vote tied to alleged Liberal corruption.
"This way, (the Liberals) think they can go on the election campaign and blame the Conservatives and the Bloc Quebecois for torpedoing all kinds of desirable billions of dollars in social spending," said Oliver.
It would be a preferable death for a Liberal party racked with corruption allegations levelled at them from the sponsorship inquiry.
That is an understatement. This is the best case scenario for the Liberals. They got another boost in that the criminal trials over Adscam are now in the fall. Once less set of drips in the Chinese water torture.
