I am still trying to figure out the importance of this but Blue Maple Leaf has pointed out the one of PM Martin's former speechwriters was a "fake volunteer, to use Benoit Corbeil's term, as he was in the employ of Groupaction.
...Now it is revealed that a key lobbyist, who lobbied on behalf of a major player in the sponsorship scandal, was also a speechwriter for the Prime Minister himself. A fact, which when it came to light last year, prompted Paul Martin to dissolve government and call an early election.
Jacques Hudon no longer writes speeches for the Prime Minister. Instead, he has been appointed to a government position at Industry Canada. He is now the Regional Manager that oversees the awarding of government contracts in Quebec.
Conservative Life adds:
Paul Martin shut down the public accounts committee last year before at least one crucial witness had a chance to tell his story. Parliamentary records indicate that members of the committee were concerned about the absence of his testimony...
...It should also be noted that Jacques Hudon is not scheduled to testify at the Gomery inquiry.
If even this proves that PM Martin was aware of the Adscam, and I'm not sure it does, it does not matter. As have been proven in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom you cannot win an election on a not-the-other-guy campaign. You should never misunderestimate the capacity of the residents of Ontario to turn a blind eye to obvious corruption and criminality. The Conservatives must get the electorate of positive reason to replace the Liberals. It is time for the Conservatives to give a major policy speech every night. To blanket the country and especially Ontario in a campaign of ideas - remember those. I spoke about this earlier and I think it is the only way for the Conservatives to win. I am still tinkering with the title but I no longer like the Change Agenda. It is like Demand Better - not enough vision. I am beginning to think more like the "Agenda for the Canadian Future"
