Enough blogging about comic books and tinkering with my site, it is time to get back to actual blogging.
I love the irony of the leader of a separatist party, whose despises the role of the Monarchy, suggesting the Governor-General to step into the fray.
..."That would be the duty of the Governor General to call Paul Martin and to tell him a few things about democracy,'' Duceppe said Monday as the country's federal political leaders attended VE-Day ceremonies in Holland.
While I agree with MP Duceppe that it is a gross miscarriage of democracy for the government to decide when non-confidence votes are actual non-confidence, it is incredibly ironic that it is MP Duceppe who is doing so. Maybe MP Harper will march down to see the Governor-General as well. By these comments it looks like he will be doing something.
..."The government cannot decide whether it has or doesn't have the confidence of the House. Only members of Parliament can decide that,'' Harper said.
"That (Liberal) decision is unacceptable now, and there will be consequences as soon as we return for that kind of attitude.
"Don't think we're going to wait until the 18th or 19th to deal with that problem.''
My sense of things is that the Liberals will bring the Budget to a confidence vote before all of this and the march on Parliament won't be necessary.
