While the motion itself isn't sufficient to topple the government, Martin needs to prove he retains the confidence of lawmakers or risk an opposition revolt that could shut down parliament, said Patrick Monahan, a constitutional expert and Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.
``I don't think the government can simply ignore this vote, it would be required to test the confidence of the House,'' said Monahan. ``We are looking at some time between a week to 10 days you would think this matter would have to be resolved.''
That seems to be the consensus. The Liberals need to prove confidence in days, not weeks. If they try weeks then that is the time to set up a protest on "The Hill"
