Bingo

Here is Paul Wells' latest post.

OK, everyone. Who still thinks it was brilliant tactics for the Conservatives to withhold the taped evidence from police for 13 days?

The Liberals are entirely fueled by plausible deniability these days. The CPC gave it to them in spades by not handing over the tapes immediately. At a minimum they should have made copies, given the originals to the Ethics Commissioner or RCMP or both and the transcribed them themselves.

NealeNews has a CPC press release as to the audio gliches in the tape. The guy the CBC hired (I know...) claims there are more problems then that. Even if the CPC did nothing to the tapes those who want to believe in the Liberals have their mental way out. I will watch with great interest to see how this whole thing plays out.

Update: Lorne Gunter suggests some perspective is in order.

...What is important in all this, though (and the reason I predict Murphy and Donsanjh will never face any consequences) is that the Liberals (who used the CFRA story in the Commons Thursday) have succeeded in confusing voters and reporters about the authenticity of Grewal's entire tape collection.
Never mind that the allegedly alteration is in just 40+ seconds out of four hours. Reporters won't be too curious whether those are the only 40 seconds (they are not) in which Murphy and Donsanjh engage in questionable behaviour. They weren't really that curious from the start about whether the two Liberals may have violated the Criminal Code's provisions against buying an MP's vote. And now they have an excuse to be entirely uncurious.
'Well, the tapes are like, tainted, aren't they?"
And voters, who are busy making a living and living their lives, and who rely on media curiosity to steer their impression of events, will simply throw up their hands for want of a thorough explanation and say 'A plague on both their houses.'
