Going to the dogs

A Liberal is as a Liberal does. Not content to let any Conservative get any gain out of anything. The Atlantic Liberal caucus has accussed MP MacKay of renting a dog for his potato-patch speech. And the Deputy Prime Minister blames the Opposition for people losing faith in the House of Commons. At least MP Peter MacKay's father managed to get another good line out of the mess.

...He said Jack is the family dog. "I went with my father [Elmer MacKay, a minister in the former Mulroney government] to pick that dog up about three years ago. . . . He's a great dog," he said. With his tongue in his cheek, Mr. MacKay added, "Those weren't actually potatoes, they were wax mock-ups."
