It is funny - I know I am falling into a Liberal trap but I am not willing to change my principles to get out of it. The Liberals are the masters of appealing to Canadians sense of right and wrong all the while they sink further and further into the cespool. I feel for it with Paul Martin. His early speeches talked of doing the right thing, helping Africa, spreading Canadian
values abroad etc, all the while the Liberals have stripped our military of any ability to help and with no intention of reaching our foreign aid commitments. Speaking of commitments there is Kyoto. It has morphed into "cleaning up the environment" like it is worldwide program to clean up the garbage on the side of the highways. Who wouldn't support that? Well the Liberals - they have no intention on meeting our targets. They talk such a good game that no one seems to care that they don't walk the walk. Well except for MP Pat O'Brien I guess.
Which brings me to bribes-for-votes. I realize that when I express my dismay with MP Grewal I am doing exactly what they want me to do. I resent them for it. But I refuse to sell out my ideals.
I like to think that this is why the Conservatives managed this so poorly. You can never match the Liberals ability to obfuscate the truth to their own gain and to use your own sense of right and wrong against you.
