Alexander Panetta of Sun Media outlines the short-term future for the Liberal and how they plan to set things up for the post-Gomery election. Here are the highlights:
- an early summer Cabinet shuffle
- proroguing the House in the fall
- a mid-winter throne speech that will serve as a campaign speech
The throne speech will be full of goodies including a middle-class tax-cut. When you control the government you control the agenda. At least in theory. Mr. Dithers has managed to botch that one so far, hence proroguing the House. It is much easier to stay on message without Question Period. Will anyone take them to task for the extended fall vacation and for doing nothing...I doubt it.
