Stephen Taylor has posted the second part of his interview with MP Monte Solberg. There are a couple of gems in there. The first is that MP Solberg assumes that if the Conservatives form the next government he will most likely not be the Finance Minister. He says they would have a Prime Minister from Alberta and a Deputy PM from Nova Scotia. They would need to have a Finance Minister and possibly Defence Minister from Ontario to balance things out. I will leave the logic of this behind because even if it doesn't make perfect sense it is politically necessary. MP Solberg said he understands this and if he was in Stephen Harper's shoes he would do the same thing. In short MP Solberg is a team player. Besides, if the Conservatives form government MP Solberg will have some portfolio...that much is sure.
MP Solberg also explains the Conservative position on daycare. As a father with two young kids this issue is very important to my wife and I. Especially since we decided that it is best for our kids to have someone at home to care for them. We do not want to pay into a program that punishes us for the choice that we have made. The Conservative position supports our choice and other choices as well. I can get behind that.
Thanks again to Stephen Taylor for posting these.
