I don't live in Toronto

but I chear for their sports teams (not the best way to finish the line, but I had to start the post somehow).

I haven't paid close attention to the increasing gang violence in Toronto because, as I say above, I don't live there. I grew up in York Region and now live in the tri-city area so I am close enough. In more ones than one...I would rather not live downtown. I can't stand the traffic. And I like having a backyard. That being said, I like to visit and it does concern me to see an increase in gun crime in the Big Smoke. For this reason I found this bit interesting from Warren Kinsella.

...During the mayoralty debates, of which there were many, some of us advisor-types would stand at the back and watch Miller. He was good on his feet. Smart. Harvard-educated, and it showed. A bit humourless, but not nasty.
Miller's weakness - then and now - was crime. We all saw that, and we all talked about it. His hatred for the then-police chief was palpable. His disdain for police officers was never far from the surface. His solutions
for crime were non-existent.
Through watching and listening to him, I came to understand that David Miller thought crime was an invention of the Fraser Institute. He thought it was a fictional right-wing construct. A spin line.

Invention of the Fraser Institute. Good line.
