The Great Hollywod Slump

By now there have been so many stories about Hollywood's slump that it is accepted consensus wisdom. Further to my friends Excel spreadsheet from yesterday I decided to look at the Top 100 Box Office Movies (adjusted for inflation) by decade.

As you see that in half a decade the 2000s are doing very well and it is a safe bet that it will be the top decade in five years. Now of course there are a lot more screens now than ever before. But that even adds more revenue to Hollywood. In short if there is any downturn, Hollywood is not feeling it. Maybe the theatre chains are getting squeezed by don't cry for the folks in La La Land.
