A day late and a dollar short

In response to the increase in gun crime in Toronto, the city of Toronto and Ontario are hiring 1,000 new police officers at the cost of $37 Million.

If, I repeat if, this is the correct response it really makes you wonder about the $2 Billion wasted in the Gun Registry. It is now obviously a double whammy. Not only is a sink-hole of money that has done nothing to stop gun crime, it diverted money away from hiring police officers, not just in Toronto, but in all of Canada.

But how could you not know this going in? Why would criminals register their fire arms. And besides, it was a long-gun registry. And gangs don't use hunting rifles. There is (and was) so much wrong with this program and it is shameful that politicians are just now trying to make up for it.

How about a Gomery Inquiry to look into how these billions were wasted?
