The French Boot

Bourque News is reporting that the French Government will be revoking Michaelle Jean's French citizenship for accepting the position of Governor-General.

...Ditto for her hubby, Jean-Daniel. This, according to France's Citizenship laws, which state in Article 23-8 that "A French citizen loses his nationality if he occupies a military or public function for a foreign country or in an international organization that France is not a part of or more generally competes with France, and who refuses to resign his employment or cease his competitive activities notwithstanding a warning given to him by the Government of France." Late Thursday, one well-placed source confided to Bourque that "the situation is untenable, how can a citizen of La Republique be the Monarch's representative of another country ?"

Why did the Liberals not do their homework on this? If they had she would simply have had to revoke her French citizenship and there would have been no problem here. Like I said before, when you are selecting from such a small group of people I guess you just can't afford due diligence. Brilliant move PM Martin.
