Why not

Here is more on Michaelle Jean from the Ottawa Sun,

...Jean has also remained mum on earlier reports criticizing the fact she holds dual citizenship with Canada and France.
Her interim spokeswoman Catherine Gagnaire said Jean is not required under French law to rescind her citizenship because of her new duties as governor general, nor did she have any plans to do so.

Excuse me? Not required under French law? Why is she not required under Canadian law? Why did she not gladly renounce her French citizenship upon taking the post. She received French citizenship by default for marrying her husband. If this default position is too important for her to renouce it to be the governor-general then she is not qualified to be governor-general.
