Right Ho! has a good roundup of the questions surrounding Michaelle Jean.
1) Is it possible that Jean and Lafond were sovereigntists? Yes, anything is possible.
2) Is it possible that Jean was never a sovereigntist?
Yes. Husbands and wives don't always think alike, or vote along the same lines.
3) Is it possible that Jean and Lafond are no longer sovereigntists? Yes. People change, and views change. Even Boulanger admitted he didn't know what their current position of Quebec separatism was.
4) Should Prime Minister Paul Martin's staff have searched into Jean and Lafond's record more deeply? Yes. It's obvious that they didn't, or else this controversy would never have turned up.
5) Is Martin going to look like a fool if it turns out that Jean has or had sovereigntist leanings? Yes. It will then prove that Martin had an agenda for appointing Jean, which he claims he never did.
6) Will opponents of Martin rejoice over this news? Yes, wouldn't you?
What does question 4 say about our government? It seems to be a habit with Paul Martin. Either he is willfully ignorant issues or he knows the dirty truth but pretends to be "mad as hell".
