The Ottawa Sun quotes Conservative Deputy Leader Peter MacKay and his disappointment of
the lack of response by PM Martin over the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. I realize it is MP MacKay's job to say these things but he can't really be surprised. As I posted earlier, a key plank in the Liberal campaign strategy will be anti-Americanism. If the PM comes out to quickly saying he will do everything we can to aid our closest friend and ally, how it is our brothers and sisters suffering and family always steps up then it is pretty hard to turn around and bash them in the next campaign.
...Deputy Conservative Leader Peter MacKay found it astounding that a neighbour and close friend would take so long to express its sympathy and offer assistance, suggesting the hesitation might have been due to the general Liberal dislike of Republican President George W. Bush.
"I think that is very much a factor in the slow and insufficient response that we've seen in the past on (events) like 9/11 and the dithering around (North American) missile defence, Canada's position on Iraq and (now) the terrible Hurricane Katrina in the southern United States," MacKay said.
Much of modern Canadian Liberalism and/or Progressiveness has turned into blame Bush moonbatism - and this hurricane has shone a light on this lunatic fringe. In short, the moonbats are becoming the Liberal base and why would they do anything to alienate them?
