Stirring the pot

Oh the exuberance of youth. The Bloc Quebecois is taking exemption to a proposition put forward by the Young Liberals of Canada.

...The proposition suggests that parties must have a candidate in each province to have a right to the maximum public funding available. The amendment would decrease the Bloc's annual funding from $3 million to $700,000.

That's actually a pretty funny shot at the BQ. A day late and a dollar short but it does shows some gumption.

...The Bloc's parliamentary leader, Michel Gauthier, said the proposition is scandalous, anti-democratic and it is shameful to see it coming from the younger generation. Gauthier said, the younger generation learned a lesson in cutting their adversaries' resources after seeing the older generation take public funds and put them into the sponsorship scandal to fight the independence movement.

Hey, I'm all for fighting the independence movement - well actually promoting federalism - my problem is taking public funds and kicking into the Liberal Party in the guise of promoting federalism.

This is like the legalization of prostitution and marijuana policies of the Young Liberals of Canada, good for some headlines but not going anywhere. But you have to cut them some slack, what else can they do when the are forced onto the "kids table".

You can check out what the young Conservatives are up to here. Oh yeah, they are actual MPs.
