Birds of a feather

One thing I see on quite a few lefty blogs is the "No Deep Integration" ribbon. These bloggers do not want Canada to give up our sovereignty to the United States. Good for them, neither do I. They would probably take great pride in the fact the PM Chretien showed our independent foreign policy by not joining the American led coalition into Iraq. Of course he did no such thing. He just chose to give up our independent decision making to the United Nations. Thus it always nice to have a peak into the UN to see if this is good policy.

...an organization that suffers from "endemic corruption" and lacks both the expertise to run large-scale operations and the back-bone to face down brutal dictators. The report [Volker] concludes that as a result of oil-for-food, "serious questions have emerged about the United Nations' ability to live up to its ideals."

If you want to hide behind the UN that is fair enough. But at least know what it is you are hiding behind and who you are aligning yourself with.

...an institution infused with cronysim, political correctness and egotism, where incompetence and gross mismanagement are rewarded rather than punished

Ah, it becomes so clear why Liberal governments are so enamored with the UN. They are like family. In many cases they actually are family.
