Missed opportunity

Check out this video of Mike Duffy from CTV News.

...The Conservatives have raised a lot more money than any of the other parties including from a wider donor base. They've got a very active computerized fundraising campaign underway. The Liberals are srambling to catch up and tonight an engraved invitation to 24 Sussex Drive, the Prime Minister's residence, has gone out to key Liberal donors. The Liberals are trying to squeeze their wealthy donors one more time to try to get some extra cash because, in fact, if we were popped into an early election the Liberals - their fundraising effort is way behind the Tories.

A couple of things of note here. How much can you squeeze wealthy donors? With the new campaign laws the donors are limited in what they can give. I am assume these are people who have not donated this year. Also I think the Prime Minister missed an opporunity here. One the things that typified Adscam was Liberal arrogance to use the Government to fund the Liberal Party. How is using the taxpayers funded residence for Party fundraising any different? I realize it probably happens all the time but they could have booked a different place and proved how things have changed under PM Martin. But as we are becoming painfully aware there really isn't any difference when it comes to former PM Chretien and PM Martin.
