...but George Bush is still President

This was a priceless moment at the Bloggers rising: Shamans or Shams talk last evening.

I don't have that much time this morning so I will expand on this post later today. However I had to speak of this one.

Early on in the discussion (Captain) Ed Morrissey spoke of the transformative nature of blogs - especially when they talk on a story that the MSM ignores (Eason Jordan). Later in the evening (what appeared to be) a Journalism School professor challenged him on the transformative nature of blogs referencing that politics has not changed and George Bush is not President. To me it was so ridiculous it was practically a caricature. I could not have come up with a better example of the J-School induced media bias if I had made it up myself.

Like I said...more later.

Update: It's later!

Right Girl and Wonder Woman have round-ups on the event as well. Wonder Woman has photo evidence and she was kind enough not to post the picture of me sucking down a beer. Also appearing in the pictures where Bob Tarantino, Brent Colbert, Stephen Taylor (nice to finally meet you), Captain Ed and Andrew Coyne.

I did find the panel discussion enjoyable but there is one, counter-intuitive, aspect to blogging that the panel missed. The whole thing is very social. One myth about bloggers is that they are anti-social people, happy to take pot-shots by blogging in their pajamas. The actual experience is much different and better than that. I have meet a lot of really cool people blogging that I would never have met otherwise. How else would I have met my favourite newspaper columnist Andrew Coyne! In fact he spent a couple of hours chatting with a gang of us bloggers after the talk.

Until the next blogopolooza then!
