It appears history is repeating itself as we have idiots on both side of the political spectrum making the same mistakes
they always make - allowing the Liberals to keep doing their thing.
First we have the former Progressive Conservative morons who main contribution is to sacrifice the party leader at the first sign of trouble and at the worst possible times. These people seriously need to get a clue.
It is no better on the left as the NDP keeps their help the Liberals then get slaughtered strategy in tact. Here are some details from (one of) John Ivison's columns in the National Post today.
...The Conservatives know they cannot depend solely on public anger over the sponsorship scandal. Mr. Harper is also convinced the Tories cannot bank on a strong NDP showing in the next election to nibble away at the Liberal's left flank. Polls suggest Paul Martin, not Mr. Layton, got the credit for the so-called "NDP budget" and some senior Conservatives believe the New Democrats might even lose official party status at the next election.
As I have mentioned some analysis of the polls is a little exaggerated. I looked at the Strategic Counsel and Ipsos-Reid polls earlier and you can see here that the NDP seems to be at about 16%. So they, like every other party, has not moved since the 2004 election (well not quite true, the Liberals about 1-1.5%, directly to the BQ in Quebec, everything else is more or less constant). Think about it. MP Layton traded upwards of 42 seats in the next election for empty Liberal promises. Brilliant. While I don't think that the NDP will do so bad as to lose their official party status one wonders why MP Layton has managed to avoid people questioning his leadership because it appears he is leading the NDP right back into their politically irrelevant position.
