I almost spit out my morning coffee when I read this editorial in the Globe and Mail.
...The government has a game plan, ending in a spring election, and it wants to stick with it. Fair enough. But the other parties are under no obligation to tamely follow the Liberal scenario. This is a minority government, and the Opposition has every right to pull down the government when it wants. If that moment comes after Nov. 1, when Gomery 1 appears, so be it.
When Mr. Martin and his ministers intone, again and again, that Canadians want the minority Parliament to work, what they really mean is that we Liberals want the House to prop us up until the time is right to win a whopping majority.
If the Opposition tries to get in the way, it's not being obstructionist. It's doing its job.
[Emphasis Added]
Am I the only who thinks this the same editorial board that, if the CPC, BQ and Ind. manage to bring down the government, will write about forcing an election that Canadians don't want, getting in bed with the separatists, forcing the gov't to break their promise, blah, blah, blah. I really doubt this editorial stance will stick.
