Peter MacKay will stay in federal politics rather than run for the leadership of the Nova Scotia Tories, a highly-placed source says.
MacKay, deputy leader of the federal Conservatives, told leader Stephen Harper he was staying and has always told Harper that was his preference, the source says. His decision will be announced Wednesday to the Conservative caucus meeting before it's announced publicly.
