Why now?

By now you know me, the only thing better than a tax-cut next week is a tax-cut today so I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth. But why are the Liberals going to announce tax breaks as soon as tomorrow? Mike Duffy is reporting that the government's surplus of 1/2 to debt relief and 1/2 to spending will be changed to 1/3, 1/3 and 1/3 tax-relief. It remains to be seen in what form this will appear but I doubt it will be a "Klein Cheque".

Such a tax-cut has been rumoured for a long time but it was supposed to come in the form of a spring budget/election platform. By releasing this now it will be mostly forgotten by "30 Days After Gomery". In short, one of the key Liberals arrows has been prematurely released from the quiver.

Is this a change the Dingwall channel play? If so the Liberals must be in full panic mode. I will await full judgment until I see more details but the timing is strange indeed.

Any thoughts?

Update: I am watching the Peter MacKay video on Mike Duffy Live and it appears it may indeed be a "Klein Cheque" arriving just before the election.

Nevermind....
