Vacation reading

I am in the middle of enjoying my post-Thanksgiving week off and I thought I would relate one quick thing. I picked up a copy of The Progress Paradox from the local library and I am now 1/3 of the way through.

So far I can't recommend this book high enough. The quick and dirty of it is that things have never been better for people than now. We live better than 99.4% of all humanity that has come before us. "Market Democracy" has done more to improve people's lives than any other form of societal organization in history. The question is why are we happy about it?
