Do you think the Conservatives expect the Liberals and NDP to come to an agreement?
...The party that forms the official opposition expects the meeting to be all show and no substance.
The rendezvous at 24 Sussex will be "more posturing and pretending that they're actually doing something for Canadians," said Conservative deputy leader Peter MacKay.
"It's all a pre-election mock-up. Nothing is going to happen in there for Canadians except that they're going to prop up Paul Martin for another period of time."
I won't comment on any deal until it happens (duh!) but I really don't have a problem with the NDP doing this. It seems to me that the supporters of the NDP are behind Mr. Layton on this so he is only doing his job. Of course the NDP risks being marginalized in the next election but the results of said election are constantly in doubt. Better to get what you want now, while you can, than bank on the future. Besides, the NDP does seem to be creeping up in the polls, slow and steady like.
