I could go into a great discussion of Parliamentary procedure to explain what the Opposition leaders proposed this evening. However, it would look something like this:

So instead I will break it down as I see it.
Jack Layton bought Paul Martin a week. I have no idea why he did it but that was all that was accomplished this evening. Stephen Harper wasn't even done speaking before the Liberals scoffed at the whole notion. So instead of a non-confidence motion on November 15th we will get one on the 24th. A Conservative motion seconded by the NDP.
Here's the problem though. The Liberals now have 11 days to figure so way to block it. Why Jack Layton would want to allow them this time is beyond me. But that is where we stand.
