Just end it

Check out this story from Canadian Press. (h/t NealeNews)

...Opposition leaders will be talking about how best to walk an electoral tightrope of their own weaving: all three say the sponsorship scandal has stripped the Liberals of the moral authority to govern, yet none wants to lead the charge to the polls.
The alternative? A range of compromise proposals that Martin has flatly dismissed as "political games."

...But both Harper and Layton say they don't want to jeopardize new budget measures that are important to their respective supporters.
Instead, Layton put forward a plan to introduce a motion Nov. 24 that would essentially ask the Liberals to surrender their mandate in January.
"His position is not tenable," a Conservative source said Saturday.
Harper, meanwhile, has suggested using a Conservative opposition day in the Commons expected Tuesday for one of two possible motions.
One would call for the Commons to reconvene Jan. 4 for an opposition-controlled agenda - likely including a vote of non-confidence that would trigger an election.
The second involves allowing the opposition to table motions in the Commons every seven days. The Liberals now control so-called opposition days.

This much should be abundantly clear by now, anything short of a non-confidence vote will be ignored by the Liberals. It is time for the games to end and for the Opposition to put up or shut up. Any more "cute" motions reveal that they want to follow the Liberals timetable. I will look on with great interest but, in my opinion, the Liberals win the day...and the next election if the Opposition lets them off the hook.

Update: And according to CTV, end it they will (he says in his best Yoda voice)

...The Conservative Party wants to introduce a non-confidence motion in Parliament on Tuesday, CTV News has learned.
If all three opposition parties support the idea and it passes, the Liberal minority government will be defeated. This will put Canada into an election, with the vote to be held about the third week in December.
Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe and NDP Leader Jack Layton will meet Sunday afternoon to discuss how best to topple the government.
The Conservatives have an "opposition day" on Tuesday in which they could table the non-confidence motion.

Like I said, just end it...and end it now.
