(Remember than movie about the Edmonton Oilers....never mind).
Gloria Galloway writes about the youthful war room that the Conservatives will employ in the next election.
...So some Conservatives say that political neophytes, culled from Parliament Hill offices, will have a big role in running the show.
That may be less of a liability than it seems. Those who have worked for Mr. Harper say he tends to make election decisions single-handedly, leaving little room for others to play a key role.
They also point out that young staffers tend to be enthusiastic and hard-working, two important assets for people who will get little sleep and even less financial reward during the five or more weeks that the leaders' buses are on the road.
But lack of experience also leads to mistakes -- and that's when political war rooms tend to get noticed.
One point needs to be made. Is it even possible for this war room to be worse than the one in the 2004 campaign? Worse than the group the completely botched the Grewal Tapes?
Furthermore, I am reading John Ibbitson's Promised Land:
Inside the Mike Harris Revolution and that pack of young neophytes did a bang-up job in getting "Team Harris" elected in 1994.
Oh and by the way,
...It is also buying advertising, something that is not likely to prove easy for any political party during the busiest consumer period of the year.
"It's going to be incredibly expensive and large retailers have already reserved the prime spots," one veteran campaign worker said. "Mr. Harper, and all of the other political candidates, may be forced to buy television time after the late-night ad for George Foreman's grill."
This blog accepts ads ;)
