I've had the night to think about it

and I think, by far, the worst offense was committed by John Duffy yesterday. Scott Reid has apologized for his comment saying "it was a dumb way to make my point", which it indeed was.

What John Duffy did was take a dumb comment and turned it into a bigger issue by flashing the patented Liberal arrogance. I still cannot believe that he tried to diffuse the situation by saying:

"Well I don't think that any insult was intended to the Beer or Popcorn producers. Liberals are proud of those people."

What this whole flap has done is pull back the curtain on what Liberals really think. I agree with Adam Daifallah on this one, it shows that the Liberals are in love with statism. So let's look at the substance of what the Liberals are trying to say - governments can be trusted with your money more that you can.

This is the crew that wasted billions of dollars on the HRDC boondoggle, turned a million dollar gun registry into a 2 Billion dollar sinkhole and lined their own pockets with an ill-advised "sponsorship" program. If they have proved anything it is that they cannot be trusted with taxpayer money, yours and mine.

Advocates for child care choice are calling the resignation of Scott Reid and John Duffy over this:

...Today on a CBC panel, Paul Martin'sCommunications Director Scott Reid said direct child care transfers to parentswould be spent on beer & popcorn.
- Reid said: "It's going to give people 25 bucks a day, they (parents) can spend it on videos." "Don't give people (parents) 25 bucks a day to blow on beer and popcorn."
- Later on CTV, Mr. Martin's senior advisor John Duffy, said he stands by the statement.
- Does Paul Martin also stand by the views of his senior-most campaign officials that parents would choose beer & popcorn over quality care for their children?

Once again the Liberals show an utter disregard for the hard work anddedication that all Canadian Parents demonstrate each and every day. CanadianParents are demanding that Martin fire these two advisors and if unwilling todo so, he should resign himself.

I disagree with these advocates. I think we should put a microphone in front of Reid and Duffy (and Jean Lapierre while we are at it) as often as possible. Their arrogance and utter contempt for the Canadian people will shine through - making this election much more interesting.
