And now the reaction

Please feel feel to provide a link to your reaction in the comments section - I will move it up to this post as the day goes on.

Hacks and Wonks - The Hack channels Andrew Coyne - There should be at least one debate where only Martin and Harper go toe-to-toe alone. We can use the excuse, "Only the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Official Opposition get to participate" in order to exclude the other two. (Potentially three down the road...)

I agree

Sinister Thoughts - Jack did well, but don't expect the media to say so (the CBC completely ignored him in the immediate post debate analysis and only brought up his name at the end of "At Issue", asking the usual "What does poor Jack Layton have to do to get us to notice him" question).

I agree

Calgary Grit - 6:35 pm: Paul's helping the hearing impaired by giving all his answers in sign language.

I AGREE

This Canada - Harper met all of his objectives. Twice he reaffirmed his commitment to solving the "Fiscal Imbalances" facing Quebec (and the rest of the provinces), including devolution of powers from the federal to the provincial level where required. In brief, voters may or may not like Harper and the CPC after last night, but at least they know who he is, that he is not scary, and that he likely presents the only national choice to the Liberals.

I agree with the importance of recognizing the fiscal imbalance, of which Paul Martin would not go near.
