Things are getting nasty in Kitchener-Waterloo

During an all Candidates meeting on Wednesday Kitchener-Waterloo Incumbent MP Andrew Telegdi refused to apologize for his past use of the n-bomb. (the following is from a CPC release)

The Facts:

· As President of the Federation of Students at the University of Waterloo, Mr. Telegdi said students did not vote in a municipal election because, “they want to be n......” (The Chevron, December 6, 1974).

· When asked about the incident at an all-candidates’ meeting two days ago, Mr. Telegdi defended the comments and refused to apologize (The Record, January 12, 2006).

· Mr. Telegdi served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister from January 30th, 2004 to July 19th, 2004. Mr. Martin offered to reappoint Telegdi as a Parliamentary Secretary (The Record, July 23, 2004).

Mr. Telegdi continues to be the Liberal candidate in Kitchener-Waterloo with the full blessing and support of Paul Martin and the Liberal Party of Canada.

This must be really coming back to haunt MP Telegdi because he is launching a smear campaign against his Conservative opponent Ajmer Mandur.

...In the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo accusations have been made that Conservative candidate Ajmer Mandur has been charged on four separate occasions for assault in 1994, 1997, 2003 and that charges were currently before the courts.

According to Mr. Mandur's campaign office he was only charged once and this turned out to be a false charge and was dropped.

MP Telegdi is determined to go forward with this though and will be appearing at 2:00PM on the Gary Doyle show of 570 News.
