Well, not so much a rant but what is the point of allowing yourself to post audio with a platform change and then not posting audio?
So here goes.

It is a good argument but the sad fact is, Harper has blown it already. Why is he pushing for the issue least likely to succeed first? Why not get the other 4 through and then once he built up enough trust, go for number 5. By doing what he did yesterday and by going for number 5 first, Harper is trying to bully the opposition and prove he has the biggest dick in town (hat tip to Bob for that graphic image). That is never a good strategy in a minority.
He also may be getting some bad advice from Mulroney’s people. They may be telling him to cut a special deal with Quebec and with the BQ and then say screw you to Ontario and Manitoba , thinking they can brazen it out and Ontario, in particular, won’t raise a fuss. That is a divisive and ultimately doomed strategy. One that will lead to costly court challenges and national unity problems.

I hear ya…
You focus on the 5th because the other 4 are easy though.

But if you poison the well going after number 5 you may never get 1 through 4. It just seems dumb to me.

Your premis that Harper was motivated by the so called “Punditry” is an unsupportable assumption….. Not based in fact and thus leading to further unsupportable speculation.
Give your haed a shake this is NOT an issue! Unless you choose to make it one to suit your own ends.

I really have a hard time feeling that nearly as much as happened in reality as has happened on the bloqs.
All that I see that has happened is that a strong cabinet is being set up, ground work for one of the five basic platform items is being laid, and in general a strong minority government is being set up.
I really don’t see all that the pundits are trying to shape into a reality.

The MSM is pissed, all of their sources are gone, no leaks from the Cons on this for them, give them till next week and it will be forgotten. We are already starting to hear some of the MSM saying that this was not such a bad move afterall as they praise the abilities of David Emerson. This will prove to be a popular move by the Prime Minister when it all shakes down.
