A sports team fight. I love it. Paul Sobering Thoughts Tuns is a fan of the evil empire. No, not the CPC (hah, had to do it) but the New York Yankees. He questions my optimism on the Blue Jays.
the 2006 Jays are not a much better team than their 2005 edition, just a much different team.
If not for an injury to Roy Halladay last year the Jays would have been playing those ever cliche "meaningful games in September". But even still I think the Jays are better.
Troy Glaus is a huge upgrade over Corey Koskie at 3rd, even if Glaus does strike out too much.
Russ Adams is no longer a rookie (but let's hope there is no sophomore jinx)
Aaron Hill is better offensively than Hudson, though not quite as good defensively (and see the above on Adams)
Lyle Overbay is a better than Erik Hinske (though not as much as I would like).
Molina and Zaun is better than Zaun and Huckeby (sp?)
B.J. Ryan is better than Tony Bautista [Update: I mean Miguel Bautista, I would certainly hope that B.J. Ryan is a better closer than Tony Batista]
A.J. Burnett only makes the starting rotation stronger than last year
So it is clear to me that the Blue Jays will be better than last year. They will still not hit enough home runs and they will only challenge for the division lead if the Yankees pitching collapses (they are old, it could happen) and Manny is a little too Manny. But it should be fun.
I am thinking a trip to see the Jays vs. Yankess is in order.
