Canada 2.0

I love this quote
from Bob Rae yesterday.

"There's a progressive record that's shared by a majority of Canadians, but so far, we have not succeeded in becoming a majority in the House of Commons, so we must think a bit about how that can happen."

Um, since when? 2004. That is a weird reboot date for Canada. I think someone needs to press him on this revisionist history. Unless he saying that Liberal majorities were not a progressive majority. In which case, why would progressives rally under the Liberal flag?

It has been said many times that Bob Rae would face uphill challenges in the coveted 905 region of Ontario. This jumped out at me as well.

He also argued against one-off deals between Ottawa and individual provinces and suggested the federal government cannot simply send its money to the provinces to spend.

"If the federal government just becomes a cheque-clearing service for the provinces, then we won't have that much left to really build a strong and united Canada."

Some much for Quebec as well. Someone explain to me the appeal of Bob Rae again.

Jeff:

The appeal is that Bob Rae is one of the worst politicians of our time. So, natually, I would love to see him lead the Liberals into oblivion. The CPC needs several years to undo the damage that the corrupt Liberals have done.

It can be argued that the Liberals aren’t a progressive party. They don’t have the principle for it.
