The Klein story continues to evolve as Preston Manning sends up a trial balloon.
...A few hours later another well-known Alberta politician said he's "leaving the door open" for a bid to replace Klein if he should resign.Preston Manning, founder and former leader of the federal Reform party, said he'd need to be persuaded that entering a Progressive Conservative leadership race would be best for the party, the province and him.
Manning also said he would have to be convinced there would be enough people willing to do the "heavy lifting" required to sell enough memberships for him to win.
It begs the question, have any Father/Son duos run a Province?

I know that Quebec’s Union Nationale Premier Daniel Johnson Sr. was the father of Quebec Liberal Daniel Johnson Jr., successor to Robert Bourassa in 1994.
Also, WAC “Wacky” Bennett, who was Premier of BC for about 21 years, lost the election to the NDP in 1972, only to have his son defeat that NDP government in the 1975 election.

Daniel Johnson Sr., Quebec’s Union Nationale Premier, had two sons, one of whom was Parti Quebecois premier, one of whom was Liberal premier. Both were merely successors and never won elections.
BC’s Socred Premier WAC “Wacky” Bennett ran the province until he was defeated by the NDP 1972, only to have his son defeat the NDP in 1975.
Beyond father-son pairings, the grandson of Manitoba’s Rodmond Roblin was Dufferin Roblin, also Manitoba Premier.
In BC, Premier Alexander Davie was eventually succeeded by his brother, Theodore.

Jarrett,
that’s one scary fount of knowledge you’ve got.
Greg,
Manning would actually make me happy. Yeah, he’s a right-winger, but at least he’s not loathesome, and it’s not as if Alberta’s going to turn left at this stage of the game. Besides, the guy likes proportional representation! Run, Preston, run.

I like the idea of Manning for premier as much as anyone. However, he turns 64 this summer, so I can’t see that he’d stick around for more than one term.

Preston is playing Claudius to Klein’s Caligula. I wonder who Nero will be?

Has anyone noticed the cooperation between the NDP and the Conservatives? The NDP even said they’d work with the Cons on Child Care on CTV’s Question Period today!
There seems to be a strategy to eat away at the Liberals from both sides of the coin. Has someone else noticed this?

I just saw that myself. On both the strategist panel and the House Leaders panel. The NDP is still after Liberal votes.

I knew about the Johnsons, but not the others. (I’m eastern-biased.)
One other interesting pair — Sir John A. Macdonald’s son, Hugh, was premier of Manitoba around the turn of the century. He also served in the House alongside his old man for a while.
