you might as well lobby the cat.
You know, I understand that lobbyists have to get into the news but how you can expect a government to change its policies, especially ones they are clear on, when you happen to disagree with them is beyond me.

I think there is also the element of publicity and moving public opinion.

Let’s Can, Can. Or maybe send them a copy of “How to Win Friends, etc.” They are establishing their organizations as political opponents of the regulator / decision maker. Not good politics, might be good PR if they’re selling memberships. Almost everything than can be said on this issue, has been said. Almost everyone from grade three and up who are for Mother Earth hates the Tories anyway.

Every special interest group seems to think that the government should change everything to agree with them. Unfortunately, our previous government allowed this to happen, so now they think it is the norm.

oh for gawds sakes people… if the target the liberals set in 1990 was realisticly possible to meet then we’d do it….but for the last 12 years like every other commitment they made the Liberals never even attempted to follow through with it so now you cry foul when the Tory’s tell you the truth?!?! And it’s all Steven Harpers fault that we’re pulling out of a promise the Liberals never intended to honor…. I can already hear them on the campaign trail… It’s all Steven Harpers fault that we couldn’t meet the Kyoto commitment…Steven Harper’s responsible for the 30% increase while we were in Power…He’s from Alberta….It’s all Alberta’s fault…. We’d have honored our commitment and will if you vote us back in…honest, we will, just vote us back into our entitled role as Canada’s ruling party…. give me a break and pull your collective heads out of your collective @$$e$…

In a way, it kind of reminds me of the federal deficit during the ’80s. Had someone in control done something earlier, the problem (reduction targets) would not be so intractable now. Certainly the Liberals had a long kick at the can and failed.

And the CPC policy makes more sense than Kyoto.

Fine. Pull out of Kyoto. It’s pretty much a done-for deal in Canada now. Why should the taxpayers pay for Ambrose to be a seat-warmer and non-contender in the talks? What does she have to bring to the table? A plan? What plan? Options? Which options? She doesn’t have a clue. Harper hasn’t given her the “coles notes” for her portfolio. She’s asea. She should step down. She says the same old thing every time she speaks, and the International stage is not likely to listen to her more than once. Really, do we need more international embarassment over our “Environment non-Plan?”

I agree. There’s no reason for us to be there. We’ve never had anything to contribute but hot air anyway.

By all means, let’s follow the path of the Europeans, where protesters desires supplant representative democracy.
Rule by a noisy few.
