I swear I was working on a post that would make the point that Rex Murphy made last night on The National. (go to the 43:29 mark for today only) I think it goes beyond the Long-Gun Registry and Kyoto. At a minimum you can throw the Sponsorship program into the mix. It betrays Liberal thinking on the matter. By there choice of solution it shows what they think the problem is. The problem is not climate change or crime or separation, the problem is a loss of votes for appearing to do nothing about said issues. By making grand pronouncement and spending large amounts of money the appearance of lack of action is solved regardless of whether or not it does anything to solve the actual problem.
Update: You can read the commentary here.

Come now, it’s Liberal thinking, period.
Better to look like you’re doing something pious than actually do something useful.

Typical Rex Murphy. Take a reasonable policy like Kyoto, confuse it with Liberal Party incompetence and stir. Propaganda by a master.

umm…greg… you do understand that boiled down to the lowest common denominator, Kyoto is simply the ability of industrys that generate pollution to pay Costa Rican’s for “fresh air credits” for the right to polute Costa Rica’s share of the planets air, right?

Remarkable to see such clear minded coverage on CBC.
Both Kyoto and the Registry are do nothing answers to real problems that were and are saddled on Canadians by a corrupt regime and much to my disgust, are still supported by a united front of the useless.

I guess I should clarify my title. I mean watch it while you can in the sense that the CBC National file is updated daily. Nothing more than that - no hidden CBC agenda. Furthermore Rex Murphy has been providing commmentary for CBC National for a long time. This is not pandoring to a new gov’t.
