AFTER borrowing heavily from John Howard's election campaign rulebook to win January's election, Canada's novice Conservative Party Government suddenly has some real-life terrorists to help it win the next one.
Interesting lead in - but such a controversial statement better be backed up by some serious facts:
...The arrests will help Harper persuade Canadians that a closer security relationship with the US is necessary, as well as shore up support for the 2000-strong Canadian military presence in Afghanistan. That commitment has been deeply unpopular in Canada, and Harper recently needed support from the Bloc Quebecois to get it extended by 12 months in a close parliamentary vote.
If you can't that basic fact correct how can any other analysis be trusted?

And to think it is owned by the fair and balanced Rupert Murdoch!

If you can’t [what’s missing here?] that basic fact correct how can any other analysis be trusted?
The problem with writing posts like this is that some smartass will always come along and point out your own.
Aside from the writer’s mistake or ignorance of who the players are in Ottawa, they make a valid point. Harper wasted no time in exploiting Friday’s event for political gain.

CPC’s unofficial blogger Stephen Taylor’s bizarre obsession with the suspects’ names and his new Mapping Terror post may lend some credibility to the Nason article.
Of course, given how bad the PMO-PPG relationship is now, any such strategy has about as much chance of success as the Volpe leadership campaign.

.. and the Liberals/NDP wasted no time trying to spin this negative against the Tories. It’s the way politics goes, Robert. You know that.
But ya, I read that article and was a little surprised about how off the facts were on obvious things like who voted/for against the motion

Where did the Liberals and NDP spin this as negative against the Tories? Don’t think you’re wrong, I just never saw anything about that.
