The aforementioned latest edition of the Bloggers Hotstove is up. We recorded later than we usually do and I think it may have showed in some of the exchanges (I think that is a good thing). In doing this I have realized that one of the biggest challenges in hosting these panels is trying to figure when to push a little harder on a subject, when to move to another subject and when to get out of the way. This week was a little easier at times because when Jason Cherniak and Greg Bester started challenging each other my job was simply to get the heck out of the way. Ask my wife, I don't think I have been silent that long in an exchange of ideas. I trust I gave James Bow enough time on other subjects. As always you can be the judge of that.

Good panel discussion this week boys.
I don’t understand why Jason was so concerned about the FAA donation limits being changed. If they were to make the change retroactive, those members who contributed more than $1000 would likely be exempted, simply for the fact that there are certainly members of the CPC and NDP who have contributed more than the limit and would also be in violation of the new limits.
I also don’t understand how, if such a large portion of the $995 delegate fee goes to reimbursing the delegates for travel and accomodations, why isn’t it simply the net amount after the reimbursement that would apply towards the $1000 contribution limit?

Good session, more fireworks this time, albeit of the sputtering variety. The podcast definitely needs someone of a diehard conservative (not necessarily CPC) bent there to clearly point out the delusional thoughts of Jason and, occasionally, the NDP’s Bester. Maybe not. If all “liberals” think like Jason, and have his interpretation of history, then the LPC’s continued future in the political wilderness is assurred.
I have no problem seeing the LPC subject to an leadership/election expenses LAW of Canada this year, without exemption. All the LPC has to do is return amounts in excess of the new limit back to donors. No one goes to jail. QED.
The Kyoto discussion was a hoot. A little short on reality and practicality, though.
Keep up the good work, guys/gals.

“The podcast definitely needs someone of a diehard conservative”
I am not sure whether to take that as an insult or a compliment. I’ll choose the latter. ;)

Ah, Greg (S, not B), you’re such a wuz. Too nice. You don’t even come close to die hard conservative status. Need to be older, more jaundiced, more worldly, more intolerant of severely deluded people in general, and the NDP and Liberals in particular.
That’s a compliment for your personna, BTW.
Lest you think I’m completely one-sided, I do think that Dion has nailed equalization bang-on!
