No, the sky hasn't fallen

Here is the full interview of PH Harper on Global National. As NDP strategist Robin Sears said last night on the CBC Politics leadership panel
...the surprise to me of many, many years of watching this is the transformation of Stephen Harper. He has gone from being really crummy in the House and not a great public speaker to one of the most Prime Ministerial Prime Ministers that we've seen in a long, long time.
Hence the foul mood from the Liberal troops. It is easy to get united when there is power to be had. But few people thought that Stephen Harper would be this good as Prime Minister and if he keeps it up he will be in 24 Sussex for years to come.

What’s that saying about counting chickens? ;p

PM Harper was always very good, It was fiberal and their media cronies who kept saying he was scary and evil. The truth is just more obvious now

Roy Elsworth:

Stephen Harper is a brilliant Pm he understands the young people and the immagrants but I have always said he was a great leader and now he has proved it. it was only CBC and CTV who said he was never really priministerial.

I disagree with the comments above. Rather, as Robin Sears notes, I think we have seen a transformation in Stephen Harper’s leadership. I think the smooth and steady leadership displayed since the last campaign was very much a surprise for most Canadians and is the main reason his poll numbers have changed. I don’t believe most people see him as the angry man that he appeared as while he was in opposition (e.g. careers being flushed down the toilet.). As well, he made some farily big tactical errors while in opposition (e.g. the budget vote). If anything, Paul Martin defeated himself last election, and Stephen Harper had the brains to fill the void with a more palatable version of himself.
